Cool in Keswick

As the title says it was pretty cold, not getting much above freezing for the 3 nights we were on site.

Talking about sites the Caravan and Camping Club site is right on the edge of Derwent Water with stunning views down the lake and only a 5 min walk into town.

Keswick is a lovely little town with a small square and lots of eating places which are mostly dog friendly. There are plenty of walks up into the hills or if you want to stay on lower ground you can even walk round the lake.

We took a drive along the A591 skirting along the side of Lake Thirlmere through Ambleside and finishing up at Bowness on Windermere with its collection of little craft shops hidden between the tourists traps. It was another day to get well wrapped up and take a walk along the side of the lake, we were surprised to see some of the pleasure boats working as there wasn’t that many tourists around.

After a warming cuppa we headed back towards Ambleside to pick up lunch and have a quick walk through the town. One thing to mention is parking, we didn’t have any problems at this time of year but in the warmer months when it’s more crowded it would be more difficult finding parking for a 7m van, oh and it’s expensive!! The car park is right next to the smallest house in England.

It started to snow so it was time to get over the hills and back to Keswick. A great few days in a fantastic location.
